To paint or not to paint?

So there are some big decisions to be made in the next week for my own house for a change...to paint or not to paint?  A little bit about our new place in Philly...old wood floors, craftsman doors, white pinwheel tile, lots of windows, and quite a bit of space (since I opted to have a home office rather then rent office space elsewhere).  It's very bright and airy and all the trim, bathroom, and kitchen are white (with the exception of the banana yellow and black tiled guest bathroom:)  I loved all the white walls in my Dubai place but for some reason I'm really craving color. And I'm thinking if I'm going to paint, I'm going to "go big or go home!" Colors on my mind: papaya, cobalt, bright mint, and teal.  What's your vote... to paint or not to paint?

  1. My vote is to paint!! I'm loving all those colors you mentioned!! I live in an apartment right now, and don't have the option to paint. So I will be on the edge of my seat to see what you do!

  6. Definitely paint. I visited my upstairs neighbor in my last apartment and noticed she had painted. I asked what the landlady said about that and she said she didn't even ask. AH-HA!!! I painted the entire apartment within the next few months and it made a huge difference! Now I own a condo and I've done a lot of painting. Paint. Paint soon! You will be so glad!

  9. well, clearly depends on the house. I LOVE color, love paint, and we've found a good balance here keeping the wals white in the main, open-plan living areas, and going big in the bedrooms and more closed spaces. Planning to do bold hues in the bathrooms next. Can't wait to see!

  13. I vote for color! As soon as I buy a house instead of jumping from apartment to apartment, the first thing I'll do is find some great colors for the walls. Have fun selecting!

  20. Paint. I think we are all dying to see what you would come up with. Most of us are too chicken to do it in own home. Everything you touch seems to turn into something FABULOUS! Be bold and wow us. :)

  26. Go for a little paint! I'm liking the bright mint, it's not as overwhelming as the other colors, if your on the fence about painting. You're new place sounds beautiful already.

  29. if i was going to paint i would do cobalt! but i would think carefully on whether or not you can see yourself still liking it in a couple of years (unless you plan on repainting when you get bored) :)
