Dining seating

My dining room set is pretty traditional so I wanted to bring in some upholstered chairs for the heads of the table to add some drama and texture. My inspiration images...

Pleated white linen is always perfection (but not with kids... I don't have time to do laundry everyday)
Windsor Smith

Love the drama and modernity of the solid orangey-coral with nailheads (I'm kind of obsessed with this room)

And I DIE over these striped wingbacks with piping.

So I decided to go with wingbacks and I scored these old babies off craigslist for $100 including an ottoman! I am going to slipcover them since the price for slipcovers is about 1/4 of the price of reupholstery AND so I can wash them if food gets spilled on them.

I've found that the best wingbacks are the old ones...they have the best shape and structure.
I love the wings on these cause they aren't the traditional round shape.

I'm also thinking of adding brass casters on the legs so they can be moved into the living room when we need more seating. So I have to decide- solid, striped, or perhaps I'll use my Fleur Chinoise ...we'll see!

  3. I adore your fabrics but I'm also partial to stripes. Especially since there are some great indoor-outdoor stripes. So personally I'd do a stripe with a cute lumbar pillow in your fabric.

  4. Ohhhh, you did a great coup there, those chairs are really great, and you are right, the " wings" are really pretty!
A few yeats back I found two for 65 dollars, but they have "curly" legs, i like that hours have straight lega, makes Them a little more modern... I painted the oak a glossy White, and upholstered the rest in a Davis Hicks fabric. Totally out of my normal style, but i love Them even more because of it :)

  5. I know they will be gorgeous! Do you go somewhere local to have the slip covers made? I live in Boston and would love to have another pair of cushion covers made for my couch, but I don't even know where to begin to look!

  8. Love this!
I really wanted to do upholstered chairs at my table, but the space is just too small. Lame.
