Slipcovers are one of my favorite tricks of the trade because:
1. they aren't permanent
2. you can take them off and wash them
3. they aren't quite as expensive as re-upholstery
I had this slipcover made for one of my client's kids rooms and it turned out pretty cute. I used an indoor/outdoor fabric which makes it more durable and stain-resistant.

The safest bet would be to have them made...but if you're brave you could even try to do it yourself!
i've been thinking of doing one on my own for a lazy boy type of chair but how much is your lady?
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have a chair that I have been wanting to cover and have actually thinking of making a slip cover! About how much did it cost to get it made? Just wondering?
ReplyDeletewhere did you get that fabric? I think I want to do a fabric that is yellow with some type of white design on it. I love the yellow floral chair at anthro., do you know of where to find some cute , bold retro/modern looking fabrics?
ReplyDeletethe slipcover was about $250 for the labor. the fabric is a designer fabric...I don't buy retail fabric but I know that there are lots of great websites and often times you can find designer fabric remnant stores where they sell the scraps...or you could get fabric through a designer in your area.
ReplyDeleteCatlin, I am related to Shaun and Jamie Muaina. I hope its ok if I make a comment! I just think you do such a great job, and I really admire your work! Anyway, as an aspiring designer myself I would love to know where to look for such a person who would know how to make the covers. I would be really grateful! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - the after shot is SO much better than the before.
ReplyDeleteHi. I am good friends with Chelsea and found your blog. Love it! I have to chairs that I wanted to recover but the bid was just too high for me. Where did you get those slip covers made/fabric?
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I'm having some chairs reupholstered but I can't find any good fabric to save my life. I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteI just started my own blog, but have been following yours for a while! I love your designs and ideas. I have been wanting to do a cover! thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog and I'm a regular reader.
I live in Dubai, and wanted to find out if you can recommend someplace where I can get my sofa upholstered?
You suggested outdoor fabric which is more durable, wehre can I find these here? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
THank you,
Sunita
