The Rug Company

{Dubai store}

The other night as I was wandering the designer boutiques of the DIFC, Dubai International Financial Center, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye- the fabulous, the ultimate, the ONE & ONLY...The Rug Company~ a U.K. based, handmade rug company with designer collections from the likes of Kelly Wearstler, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marni, Paul Smith, Allegra Hicks, Neisha Crosland,Vivienne Westwood, Nina Campbell, Designers Guild, and more.

{Christoper & Suzanne Sharp and Kelly Wearstler}

I have loved The Rug Company for years...but I've never been in an actual store so as I walked through the doors for the first time, I had serious butterflies. It was like meeting my celebrity crush.

{Suzanne Sharp}

I texted my husband and told him the good news and he begged me not to buy a rug {its an addiction of mine but he obviously didn't know the price point! }

{Diane von Furstenberg & Paul Smith}

I must admit that it was a bit hard not charge this one to the credit card~ I've been lusting after it for awhile now... isn't it perfection?

{rug by Suzanne Sharp featured in Martha Stewart}

So I sat for over an hour, drooling over the patterns and drilling the store manager for juicy details {by the end he decided that I was a rep from London, there to test his product knowledge}!

{Vivienne Westwood}

Did you know that they'll custom make any pattern in ANY size or colors?

My favorite designs are by Suzanne Sharp, co-founder & creative director. Also the owner's wife. Read more about them here. They got the idea to start the company when they were making documentaries in the middle east & India!

And I'm always a sucker for the British florals of Paul Smith.

Love Marni's collection~ so feminine & flirty

Allegra Hicks- sleek & contemporary

And they also have wallhangings & cushions~ gorgeous.

But alas, I did not leave with a rug...but I bought a catalogue/book. It's published every 2 years and showcases the rugs in some amazing settings- so I'll just have to flip through my book until I can actually get one of the rugs in my house:)

Thanks for being my neighbor Rug Company, we're going to be great friends.

  1. I absolutely adore The Rug Company Rugs! When I first became interested in interior design/ decorating my home I emailed them for a price list - I knew they had to be pricey but I had no idea the true damage until I opened that attachment - I nearly fell out of my chair! Most likely I'll never be able to afford to spend that kind of money on one rug but they are so fun to look at!

  2. I love the Rug Company, haven't been to a store actually, and I rather not, cause it will be too sadly tempting, especially love all the gorgeous geometric patterns! Great post, I loved how you texted your husband, you made me smile

  10. Oh my--- I saw that yellow and white rug on some design blog and died over it. But it didn't say where it was from. Good to know it's probably a fortune and wouldn't matter if I could find it. :) You're home makes me SO happy.
