It's Complicated

I watched It's Complicated on my 16-hour journey home the other day...and fell in love yet again with another Nancy Meyers' set {as we all did in Something's Gotta Give and The Holiday}

* we don't get all the movies in dubai so i was thrilled to get to catch up on some american flicks!

It was set in a gorgeous 1920's Spanish Style Ranch in Santa Barbara

Meyers wanted a "Belgian look reflected in the house's furnishings in a quiet palette and natural linen. Set designer Beth Rubino mixed high end-furnishings--Calvin Fabrics and Dessin Fournir and George Smith furniture--with antiques from 1st Dibs and items from West Elm."

Subtle arches & warm lighting. Color palette was neutral tones with accents of "Hermes" orange.

Beautiful bathroom.

Isn't the carrera island on the wooden base amazing?

Love the lived-in, casual feel

Notice the ceiling detail and cane cabinets

Do I spot some Serena & Lily?

And don't even get me started on the bakery inspired by Dean & Deluca...it was heaven.

  5. Caitlin, I so agree! I always get to excited when Nancy Meyers releases a new film. Fell in love withe Hamptons home and interiors in her "Something's Gotta Give" film and "The Holiday". Her sets, interior and exterior shots are always either so elegent or charming. She just has style. I saw this movie for the firstime as well while on a cruise this past week. Was so happy to see what see created in this film.

  8. if I am correct, the outside of the house is in Thousand Oaks, Ca (where I live! about 45 mins south of Santa Barbara) and the inside/gardens is the Santa Barbara house. I LOVED the decor in this movie..it was amazing!

  14. This was such a great and funny movie... I loved the tall headboard in the hotel scene, but the whole house was so great as well.

  16. P.S. Did you watch "the making of" in the special features? It said that the exteriors were shot in CA and ALL the interiors were shot in a Brooklyn film studio!! Can you believe it... movie magic! It wasn't even a real house.
