dubai favorite: global village

I've posted about Global Village before, but really...it is one of my absolute favorite things about Dubai.  It's an outdoor market/fair type thing that is open in December through February, where lots of different countries come and sell goods at amazing prices! We actually took a quick trip tonight to stock up on some items from my favorite vendor Clayton. (Our movers are coming in the morning to pack up our 9 square foot crate full of stuff to go back to the states in storage.) We ended up having a bit of extra room so we got in the car at 9 pm and booked it to Global Village!

my husband thinks it's hilarious that i buy Chinese stuff in Dubai since we are moving to hong kong:)

but i just can't resist!

recognize this? yep...this is where i bought my lamps last year!

 with Clayton, our main man!

but don't worry, i did do some rug browsing in India

and i picked up some poufs in Morocco

and did some fabric shopping in Pakistan

$2.50 per yard

Livi was loving it too!

gorgeous colors & patterns

and here it is ready to be shipped...i am so excited to have this in my house someday!

*For the Dubai folks...Clayton (the Chinese vendor) is actually located in India this year instead of China  because they ran out of room in China! So if you are looking for him go to India and tell him you read about him on my blog, he'll give you special prices!

I love the chest and I agree with your husband, too funny! There was a blog I used to read awhile ago and she lived in Hong Kong for a little bit and had a lot of furniture made. Can't wait to see what you find there.

  14. I just found your blog through reading a post on you in Rickshaw design and love reading your blog about Dubai! I live in Dubai as well and have actually become jaded by it after 7 years but your posts have given me fresh eyes to see it again for what I loved it for in the beginning. And now you're leaving!DONT GO! STAY In DUBAI! You haven't seen the Islamic Souk in Sharjah yet! Sniff*
