Happy Birthday to Style Files! {and a BIG giveaway!}

Today marks the 1 year birthday of CWD: Style Files! Some of you know that I began my blog back in '07 when I started my business, however I didn't have the time or energy to keep it updated in the first few years.  It wasn't until I was a new mom living in Dubai that I realized I needed to somehow continue my design career despite the challenge of change & circumstance. Needless to say, the last year has been really amazing and I have loved getting to know the design blog community and all of my faithful readers. This blog has allowed me to grow as a designer, feel closer to home, and also given me a unique connection to parts of the world that I never imagined I would have.  


So once again, thank you for all of the kind comments, support, and encouragement over the last year. To my husband & family {especially my father-in-law who is the only male who faithfully comments and even enters giveaways!} All you other bloggers know that there are some days when you just don't feel like blogging but it's the comments and emails that keeps us going.  So without further ado...I am so happy to be giving away something special to say THANK YOU!

    Happy Birthday Style Files! I have loved looking to your blog for inspiration and motivation to make our home a prettier place :) I would love to see more about how to incorporate more than 2 colors into a room. I seem to pick one color and stick to it, and everything ends up looking too matchy/matchy. Yuck. Your work always has so much character and diversity. I love it.     I like that you have shown how to keep your own style even while abroad in an unfamiliar environment. It can be easy to get sucked in (and not in a good way) to local tastes/styles that look contrived or too "heavy" when out of context and I like that you have been able to take influences from your surroundings and make them your own. Looking forward to seeing how you do this in Hong Kong!

    That and I used to travel to Dubai frequently and it has been fun to see posts from the area. Thanks!

    I love your blog, but one thing I would like to see more of is links to furniture/rugs/accent pieces that are affordable. I've spent hours upon hours searching for a rug inspired by one I saw on your blog, and am still unsuccessful! I really love all of the inspiration though, and the use of bright patterns.     Hi Caitlin! I just love the images from your home and your clients' homes. I look for inspiration in your storyboards for all of the rooms in my Irvine, Califormia apartment.     Happy Birthday! Your blog is an inspiration to me. I live in London and the winter months are long and we seem to spend a lot of time indoors. Your blog is a dose of sunshine on a rather dark and dreary day. After I read one of your posts I want to clean my house, organize the toys, run to the store and get fresh flowers and just make my home more beautiful in some way.     I love your blog and your style. The only thing I guess I would like to see more of is "before" shots of clients' spaces. I realize that probably not many people want to have "before" shots made public, but the "afters" look so great I'm just curious what you had to work with in some of them!

    I love seeing the projects you work in - especially watching in incorporate design from Asia and the Middle East. I lived in India for a while and brought home some great textiles. Watching your design has helped me incorporate some of them in my own home.

    As I've been living in Asia, I have been trying to figure out how to design using Chinese art and furniture + stick with my typical contemporary style. You have done that exact sort of thing so beautifully with all the Dubai decoration; I love seeing all your completed projects!     I love seeing the "after" shots of homes/rooms you've designed. While each new space has some signature CWD style (signature pillow or some cool geometric/lattice textile), it's always fresh & new...it's very inspiring.
