a day in macau

My friend and client from Dubai, Lashley, has been visiting me this week so we've been exploring Hong Kong- it's been so fun getting to know my new city. We finished up the week by taking a ferry to Macau, an island southwest of Hong Kong. Macau is a former Portuguese colony so there are many beautiful buildings, churches, cobblestone streets, and yummy Portuguese food. Most recently popularized by the many casinos and Vegas hotels, Macau has become a destination for Chinese gamblers and shoppers. We grazed the shops and hotels a bit, but spent most of our day winding through the small streets looking at reproduction antiques and eating yummy Macanese snacks, including the delicious egg tarts! Olivia enjoyed herself throughly on the stairs to the big church until she was besieged by cameras, she's quite popular here. I came home with lots of inspiration, sore feet, and some broken tile coasters (from the stroller falling) but all in all, it was a lovely day.

More from my fun week with Lulu later! Happy weekend.

  3. Caitlin! I am continually impressed by your photography skills! You capture where you are so beautifully and the way you frame a shot is like artwork in itself. You inspire me to get back in the habit again. Keep 'em coming!

  4. We went to Beijing for a visit while living in S.Korea. My daughter was just under 1 year with curly bright red hair. I was amazed how many people wanted to taker her photo! As an experiment, I stopped with my daughter and son. My husband took the video camera and timed 30 seconds. We wanted to see how many people we had around us in that short time. Over 50 people! Crazy. It looks like you had people want their photo with your daughter too!

  11. Gorgeous tiles - I can definitely see the portuguese style in those as well as the architecture. I didn't make it to Macau when I was in Hong Kong - these pictures make me wish I had! Next time...:)

  22. There is only one thing better than shopping in Hong Kong, and that's eating. From small noodle joints to upscale French restaurant, you will locate all sorts of restaurant, eating hall and snack stall on earth in Hong Kong. Here I found small amount of Hong-Kong-styled snacks online (http://yummiexpress.freetzi.com/). This is definitely a good choice before I have $ for another trip.
