I've been having a lot of fun working with Michelle, the winner of my storyboard giveaway, on her guest room/nursery for the past few days. Thought I'd share a bit of the process...
Michelle's a newlywed so she has some nice new pieces, some hand-me-downs, and a little bitty budget. This room will be their guest room for now but she wants the new design to be able to transition easily into a nursery...this girl thinks ahead! So here are the pics of the space now...
The pieces:
Michelle has this old chair with GREAT shape that she's going to reupholster
We'll put this dresser across from the bed to store the TV and add a contrasting cream paint for detail and swap out the knobs for something unique.
And her inspiration pics:
Michelle's style inspiration is Vintage Eclectic. She loves grays, blacks, and yellow... can you tell? Budget: $800 for phase 1.
What I'm envisioning:
1. Splash the walls with Benjamin Moore Stonington Grey (then she can paint horizontal stripes or wallpaper the wall where the crib will be once she finds out the gender!)
2. a fun/transitional roman shade above the bed to add some pattern and visual interest
3. some beefier side tables and pretty lamps
4. A wide dresser + mirror combo that can turn into a changing table by adding a topper and pad
5. A small daybed bench at the end of the bed or on one side of the room
6. Lots of fabulous pillows in yellows, grays, and another color to POP!
Come back tomorrow to see the storyboard design and sources!
Excited to see the results!

ReplyDeleteI love it! Where is the first photo from (with the baby)? I'd love to see more of that house!
ReplyDeleteI love how she makes yellow work. A lot of times when I see yellow in homes. It's usually in old homes that are worn out. She makes it work in a modern way.
