Mother's Day

This year I was especially grateful for the opportunity to celebrate motherhood- I think it's my new favorite holiday.  Becoming a mom gave me a whole new perspective on life and I am so glad that I got to experience it again when Penn was born.  Not only did the process open my eyes to how amazing it is that we're all born when it can be so difficult and painful but it reminds me how precious this life is and each person that is in it.  It's definitely not easy being a mom- in fact, it's much harder than being a designer but it is so rewarding and so worth it.  I'm sitting here typing (one-handed) in my robe with a baby in my arm and spit-up on my shoulder and although I do love design... being a mother is my greatest joy and there's no where I'd rather be right now than cuddling with my sweet baby boy.

I am so grateful that I have my sweet Livi to love and teach. She is already a little mother- I can't believe how nurturing she is with her little brother.  I love the things she comes up with to say to him- "hello little man" she said today. 

I am also more grateful this year for my own mother- for the all the hard work it took to raise me and my siblings AND for the hard work that she still puts in helping me and my own children.  Wasn't she a babe with her coral bow blouse? I love you mom, thanks for all you do!

And to all the rest of you...I am grateful for the mothers that I know and look up to. For my sisters & friends who help, advise, inspire me and even for the wonder-mom bloggers (you know who you are) who may be intimidating but do motivate me to be a better mom each day.  Happy Mother's Day!
