i hope you all had a good weekend, ours was nice & relaxing {plus alot of chasing livi around}
HOWEVER it's Ramadan and i'm really not used to it. here's what it's like:
~ no eating or drinking in public until sunset EVERYDAY
~ {that means that all the restaurants and snack/coffee shops are closed until about 7 pm}
~ silence in all the stores {and since its about 50 celsius outside we spend alot of time at the malls}
~ you have to be careful even in your car because you could be arrested for eating/drinking if a cop sees you {this proves to be pretty difficult after a 90 minute bikram yoga class}
so here's to 3 more weeks of long Ramadan days... happy monday!
how interesting. i think i would find ramadan very difficult. good luck :)

Hey! Thanks for the Ramadan wishes! Going down my blog list I was excited to see the words Ramadan Kareem. I am actually fasting right now in sunny Orange County CA. Unlike Dubai, people are eating and drinking all around me : (
ReplyDeleteI am use to it now. Although Ramadan is mostly known for fasting. The meaning and moral of it is much greater. It really teaches you patients and allows you to be thankful for all that you have. It reminds you how great God is for giving us all that we have. Ramadan really cleans your soul and wakes you up, allowing you not to take life for granted and to remember God always and often.
I never knew that it was illegal to eat or drink in public in Dubai. That must be very hard since most of Dubai's population is foreigners anyway!
Thanks for recognizing Ramadan in blog land : )
thanks for introducing me to Ramadan! I would find it quite difficult since I always seem to be eating or drinking and tend to be quite chatty when shopping! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I would also find Ramadan very difficult. I do love hearing about life, culture and traditions in UAE/Dubai though. Especially since I might be moving there in a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I love your blog! You're one stylish mama!
Haha! What a strange experience. Good luck!
ReplyDelete...strange in an INTERESTING way, I mean! I'll bet it's so neat to experience another culture.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! It was so sweet to see a Ramadan message from you.
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate that the rules in Dubai are so odd about Ramadan (and I'm sure other things) against the law!?! crazy!
But besides that Ramadan is a very spiritual month. It's a great time for reflection.
Loved this post!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting post, it must be such an experience to embrace another cultures tradition - I didn't realise they were so strict though! K
ReplyDeleteThat would be super tough for me,, considering I eat all day long. Have a wonderful and safe 90 days, just make sure to nourish your body.

Reading your blog always makes me sad that I don't live in Dubai anymore! You are one lucky chica - it's so easy to travel to amazing places when you live in the heart of the action there!
