I contributed to the December issue of Emirates Home by sharing 10 tips for decorating for the holidays... nothing too brilliant, but I thought I'd share a few of the ways I spruced up our little space for Christmas!
I love hung ornaments...especially when they are hung with pretty ribbon. I used plastic ornaments that are light and just used tape to secure them to the ceiling. I also made some 2d tissue balls because I wanted some texture without having to make the whole tissue ball. It was a fun backdrop for our little holiday party we hosted on Saturday!
What would I do without grosgrain?
Some yummy treats for our party...
I'm not a red & green girl so this year I went for pink & blue to match the house. Our little fake IKEA tree really did the trick since real trees cost a serious fortune here because they have to be imported!
I already had pink & white striped fabric so I used it for the tree skirt and tablecloths...my husband wasn't sold on the idea but it ended up looking quite festive!
Can't get enough sparkles... when did I become such a little girl?
What mirror doesn't need a pink bow?
The tablescape (post-party... I forgot about the camera during the party)
In summary, Pink & blue isn't just for baby showers!
Anyone else have a funky Christmas color scheme? Love to hear about them!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors, I'm so over the traditional Christmas red and green... this is very refreshing!
ReplyDeleteNorthern Light
I'm not a red and green girl either. I have been decorating with silver and white at Christmas for years and I never get tired of it. It's classic, timeless and isn't tacky with my home decor. I do have a few pops of pink too!
ReplyDeleteI love that it was so simple and fun...I hate feeling the pressure of making up the color scheme and having everything really elaborate...I'm glad to know it can still turn out chic and beautiful! (c:

I love it! Love the purple ribbon on the wreath.
ReplyDeleteWhile red is my favourite colour I prefer to mix it up at Christmas. Last year it was silver and turquoise and this year I've gone pink too, in honour of our little baby girl's first Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThis year I decorated with black and gold. And I love it.

so cute. I'm not a red and green girl either
ReplyDeleteI might stick with the classic colors, but I have an tiny obsession with Hawaiian Christmas decor. Might sound cheesy, but the items are always so well done and homemade! My family had a Lanaii Christmas once and the memories that go along with my pieces mean the world to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the spin, something different from red & green. Got your parents Christmas card today. So cute. I can not believe they have 10 grandchildren. It looks like they really enjoy them. Have a very merry Christmas and a great New Year.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas decor is all hot pink, turquise, lime green, and purple. It might not be the most "refined" look, but it is SO ME, and it makes me so happy every time I look at it.
ReplyDeleteThis is very brilliant! I love how unique and festive it is!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks perfect! Love all the bows.
ReplyDeleteAlso, congrats on your move! You must be sooo excited. Can't wait to see what you do with your next place...and all the new treasures you're going to find!
Very pretty Cait!
ReplyDeleteLove your christmas scheme this year. It's very cheerful. I personally don't go much for the tradition colours but always use white. May I ask how you secured the christmas baubles to your ceiling? Would love to replicate that for Christmas eve if it works out.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bianca
how did you do the pink and white paper decor on the wall?
